
Phyllis Curtis
Church Organist and Worship Team Pianist
Phyllis Curtis has been playing the piano since the age of 5 and was a church organist by the age of 12! She has served as organist and Director of Music at various churches in Manhattan, Wichita, and the Kansas City area. She earned both a Bachelor of Science in Music Education (summa cum laude) and Master of Music degrees from Kansas State University. She has taught elementary classroom music in the North Kansas City, Manhattan, and Wichita public schools, and is a licensed Kindermusik instructor.
Together with her late husband, Frank, Phyllis co-founded The Fine Arts Institute, a 501(c3) organization that currently produces the “Love in the Afternoon” noon-time musical luncheon series that presents entertainment for the senior population at various venues in the Kansas City area. Phyllis is a member of the School of Music, Theatre, and Dance Advisory Council at Kansas State University.
