The Great Plains Mercy & Justice Team has been developing a series of Justice Encounters to provide intensive one-day or multi-day experiences with both domestic and international partner sites for learning, reflection, and action. Past Justice Encounters include Border Immersion in March 2023, Civil Rights Immersion in July 2023, KC Epiphany Justice Encounter in January 2024, Oklahoma Racial Justice Encounter in March 2024 (which Rev. Jeff and Rev. Daekyung attended), and a Civil Rights Immersion again in June 2024 (in which Asbury member Elaine Hager participated).

These immersion experiences are meant to build relational networks of clergy and laity across the Great Plains as we build beloved community together. All Great Plains United Methodists and friends are invited to the journey through justice movements of the past and present in Topeka this summer.

We’re planning to leave from Asbury at 7:15 a.m. on July 27. If you’d like to join us, please let Pastor Daekyung know by Wednesday, July 17, so we can arrange carpooling. Thank you!
