  • Ann Porter

    Director

    Ann joins the children's center with 20+ years of experience in the field of early childhood education, and bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education from Pittsburg State University. Previous experience includes 6 years as director at a Christian early learning center, and was the assistant director for 7 years prior to that.


    When not shaping the live of children at the ACC, Ann loves to spend time and camping with her husband and two sons, ages 2.5 & 7.


  • Wendy McCormak

    assistant Director

    Wendy has spent 15 years working in early childhood education. She received her A.S in Early Childhood Education with an emphasis in infant and toddlers from JCCC in 2004. She enjoys traveling with her husband, and cuddling with her Boston Terrier, Rexy.

    Administrative Assistant | Teacher, After School Care: 3rd-5th grade

    John has been working at Asbury Children's Center since 1998. He graduated from the University of Kansas with a Bachelor's Degree in History. He has the opportunity to watch the children grow from kindergarten to 6th grade. John sees the knowledge they gain, the creativity they bring and the fun they have, which makes it exciting and rewarding every day.

    Lead Teacher | Infant Classroom

    Yvette has an Early Childhood Education Degree from the University of Kansas. She has been teaching children for more than 20 years, and she especially loves working with the infants. Yvette has been married for 20+ years. Yvette and her husband have two sons, one daughter and three grandkids. One of her favorite pastimes is cheering for the Jayhawks, and spending time with her family!

    Martha has worked with Early Childhood students for 10+ years. She is currently working on her Associate of Arts Degree in Early Childhood Education at KCKCC. Martha loves working with the infants in the ACC.

    Dianne comes to the ACC after working 13 years at Shawnee Mission Medical Center. She recently retired from there to spend more time with her family, especially her grandchildren! She loves working with children and seeing their precious smiles!

    Alli has a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Missouri. She has worked in early childhood education since 2014. Alli enjoys yoga, reading, and loves to have fun with the children

    Mimi has been working with children & families for over 6 years. She is a movie lover and enjoys Mexican food. Mimi sees the humor in working with children, and is patient and caring.

    Marie has working in childcare for over 5 years and is working towards a degree in Early Childhood Education. Marie loves working with children and seeing the knowledge they gain each day. Some of Marie’s hobbies include hanging out with family and friends and traveling.

    Ms. Kate is a former nanny and mother of 2 children. She enjoys reading, gardening and collecting comic books. Kate enjoys the fun you can have with children.

    Katie enjoys music, art, travelling and working at Asbury Children's Center. She finds working with the children very fulfilling and full of fun. Katie has been working at Asbury Children's Center since 2004 and hopes to continue working with children for years to come.

    Teresa graduated from University of Mexico with a Bachelor’s in Education. Teresa likes her classroom to be a safe and learning environment. Each child will gain knowledge allowing them to develop new concept skills and respect social and cultural diversities.

    Assistant Teacher | 3.5-4.5 Year-Olds Classroom

    Dagny has a Bachelor's Degree in Early childhood Education from Pittsburg State University. She has over 5 years experience working with children and families. Dagny loves watching the children complete new tasks and the excitement on their faces. In her free time, Dagny enjoys riding R2Rs, trips to the Little Sahara Sand Dunes, and spending time at her families farm.

    Lead Teacher | Pre-K Classroom

    Tammy is the proud mother of 2 beautiful daughters, Sophie and Chloe. Sophie wants to be a graphic designer and Chloe a pre-school teacher like her mother. Tammy has been in the Early Childhood field for more than 25 years and takes great pride in being a pre-school teacher. She is currently attending KCKCC for a degree in Early Childhood Education. Tammy believes this is an important stage of these children's lives and is honored to be a part of their lives.

    Assistant Teacher | Pre-Kindergarten

    Grace graduated from Mid-America Nazarene University with a Bachelor of Arts degree with Professional Studies in Education. She has volunteered in her church nursery for the past 6 years. Grace enjoys riding her horse, doing jigsaw puzzles, traveling, and spending time with friends & family. She loves working in the Pre-K classroom because she enjoys playing with the students and making a difference in their lives by preparing them for Kindergarten.

    Lead Teacher | Mixed Ages Classroom

    Susan has a B.F.A. in Art History from the University of Kansas, as well as 15 credit hours in Early Childhood Education at JCCC. She has over 5 years of experience as a preschool teacher, in addition to hours of volunteering as an English as a Second Language (ESL) co-teacher. Before entering the teaching field, Susan worked at Hallmark as a Display Artist creating educational children’s exhibits.

    Madison is currently enrolled in the nursing program at UMKC. She has worked with children of all ages in previous centers, as well as taught preschool in the child development center at her high school. Madison also enjoys her volunteer work with the Special Olympics, and helping participants learn the value of team work and their own capabilities through basketball.

    Megan has been with Asbury Children’s Center since August 2004. Megan loves working with children because they get excited about everything rather is a small or large accomplishment. Megan believes that the excitement of the children helps her to remain youthful!

    Lead Teacher | After School Care: 1st & 2nd Grade

    Jamie has many years of working with children of various ages, as well as many early childhood education classes. Jamie likes working with children to see their faces light up when they accomplished a skill that the child so diligently worked on over a period of time. Jamie also leads the ACC's Music & Movement program.

    Mollie has a passion for cooking and attended L'Ecole Culinaire. She has worked in the catering and restaurant industry for several years. Mollie is delighted to be cooking at the ACC, and introducing new foods and the importance of healthy eating habits to the children. Mollie grew up in a small town, playing basketball and being creative. She enjoys spending time and going camping with family & friends.
